Flat Out

  • May 28, 2011

While browsing the internets one day I ended up finding myself on a message board discussing an upcoming event in Goliad, Texas called the Texas Mile. I had never heard of this before so I looked it up and what I found peaked my interest beyond belief. Twice a year cars could go and drive flat out down a runway at an old airport less than 200 miles away from where I lived. Needless to say, the situation quickly escalated from wanting to do it to actually deciding to attend the next event to see what it was all about. A friend and I journeyed down in March...

NASCAR @ Texas Motor Speedway

  • November 7, 2010

I've always been a fan of any and all forms of motorsport since as far back as I can remember. From go-karts to Formula 1, I love watching, learning, and partaking in every event I possibly can. NASCAR is no exception and early in 2010 when I realized that I had an upcoming open weekend coinciding with a NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway, I seized on the opportunity to attend! I purchased a cheap ticket on the backstretch through a local seller on craigslist and planned to drive up from San Antonio early in the morning on the day of the race. As the date drew closer however, rain loomed heavily...

Inspiring Others

  • April 14, 2010

I originally set out to create this website as a way for me to communicate with friends and family that I would have otherwise been unable to do through other means. Remarkably however, people whom I have never met before seem to be stumbling across my site and enjoying its contents. Some have even gone so far as to send me an email thanking me for "inspiring" or "motivating" them to create their own Life List to help them work towards leading a more fulfilling life. While it is not my motive to draw attention to my accomplishments, such outcomes are encouraging and I am proud to have had such...

Driving a Dream

  • February 28, 2010

I've loved cars for as far back as I can remember and its always been one of my lifelong dreams to own one of the few that I spent hours drooling over as a kid. Thanks to games like Need For Speed and GranTurismo, the Lotus Elise found itself among this group. Arguably one of the greatest driver cars, the Lotus looks the part and more than follows through with its capabilities behind the wheel. On top of this, a good used one could be found for a little over $30,000 at the time so naturally it jumped to the the top of my list of things I was going to buy after college graduation. Soon after...

College Graduation!

  • December 18, 2009

On December 18th, 2009, I graduated from the University of Texas San Antonio with a BBA in Finance. In attendance of the ceremony were many members of my family as well as some very close friends. I would like to thank all of you for coming to support me on such an important day in my life as I know each and every one of you will be there for me going forward into the future. I would also like to offer many thanks for all the letters and gifts I received as I truly appreciate all the attention from all my friends and family. It's hard to believe that only two years ago I was graduating from High...

Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon!

  • November 17, 2009

Preface: I signed up for the Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon on March 31st, 2009. At that moment I had grand plans of training, exercise, and finishing with a respectable time in the Marathon World. I got off to a great start too, training five days a week the entire month of April. I had gone from never working out to being able to run five to six miles without much fatigue and I seemed to be on pace for big things. Then the day after the Spring Semester had ended, I arrived at the Rec to workout as usual but I was stopped at the door and I was informed that since I wasn't taking summer classes,...

Live from The Game!

  • October 25, 2009

Preface: After talking with one of my roommates (Brendan) who happens to be a Texans fan, we decided it would be cool to check out the 49ers vs. the Texans at Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX. Living in San Antonio, this was the closest place that I could go to see the 49ers play and doing so was something that I have always wanted to do.  Reporting live from Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas! Today's game is between the Houston Texans and my San Francisco 49ers! It promises to be quite a matchup! Updates as the game progresses! Game begins in 25 minutes (Noon)! Update (2:00PM) It's halftime...

KirkScheidt.com, Available on the iPhone

  • October 20, 2009

I had owned my iPhone for approximately six months when I decided to try my hand at coding and publishing my very own iPhone app. The smartphone world was being revolutionized before my very eyes and it seemed that every technology story was about a hot new app available in Apple’s App Store. Not being one who likes to fall behind the times and always up for a challenge, I decided to teach myself the Objective C programming language and learn to use Apple’s developer toolkit to construct my own app for the iPhone. After spending $100 to become an Apple Developer and gain access to the developer...

A Medieval Feast

  • August 12, 2009

I've always been fascinated with history and life during the many eras before ours. The Medieval Time Period is no exception and when I found out about the Medieval Times restaurant chain, I knew that I had to go! The nearest one to me at the time was in Dallas, TX so one weekend I decided to make a road trip of it and journeyed up for the dinner and tournament. I was seated in the Black & Yellow Knight's section (by random luck) and  feasted on an array of medieval dishes throughout the show. The only thing out of place were of course the soft drinks and alcoholic beverages but those...

Falling With Style

  • May 9, 2009

In the Spring of 2009 I had a sudden urge to do something out of my element and a few hours later I was signed up to go SkyDiving out of SkyDive San Marcos! I had never really contemplated doing anything like that, but it definitely seemed like something that everyone should try at least once in their lifetime so I decided why not, and scheduled my jump for a few days after the end spring semester. When the day finally came, I journeyed out to the jump site and took part in the pre-jump preparations. I had to be fitted with a suit and was given a few words of advice before I was set to go and awaiting...
